Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Calibration!

Samsung refrigerators are an excellent choice for those who want to invest in reliable fridges.

They have a significant cooling capacity, but it also depends on the temperature to which you’ve set the fridge.

A Samsung refrigerator can store food with the best temperature calibration, hence what’s the best temperature calibration.

Typically, you are supposed to set your Samsung refrigerator temperature such that the fridge is 38°F and the freezer is – 2°F; that’s the standard calibration. Nonetheless, to be 100% certain, consult your user manual. In addition, you can make use of the freezer and fridge knobs to change the calibration.

How Do You Check the Actual Temperature of Your Samsung Refrigerator?

Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Calibration

Sometimes you may notice that what the display panel is showing isn’t the actual temperature of the fridge, and you want to check the actual temperature.

Well, checking your Samsung refrigerator’s actual temperature is pretty straightforward.

All you need to do is get a fridge thermometer. It will help you determine the temperature of the fridge accurately.

But besides that, you can switch off the fridge for some time, let’s say about 30 seconds, and after the speculated time, switch it back on.

Yes, it works, but not so efficiently. There was a time I had a similar problem, so I disconnected my fridge from the mains and reconnected it after some time.

It worked for me. You can try it out, but to be more accurate, use a fridge thermometer.

Why Does Samsung Refrigerator Display the Wrong Temperature?

The most likely reason your Samsung refrigerator displays an incorrect temperature is a discontinuous power supply.

But it could also be that the fridge is in demo mode. Also, in some scenarios where the evaporation coils are frozen, wrong temperatures can display.

In such situations, it will help to inspect the back cover inside the refrigerator; check if there’s any developing ice.

If you find any ice, melt it and eliminate any ice build-up. Sometimes even the fridge may not display the wrong temperature but its actual temperature.

For instance, if the display panel reads -3⁰C and you regulate it to a higher or lower temperature, it will go back to -3⁰C.

The reason is that -3⁰C is the fridge’s actual temperature. Before displaying the temperature to which you’ve set it,  it’ll need to upgrade systematically first.

Likewise, you shouldn’t just regulate the temperature at once. Always allow for specific time intervals.

Additionally, if the fridge is in demo mode, you’ll need to deactivate it back to normal. To deactivate the demo mode, hold down the energy saver and power freeze knob together for about 3-5 seconds.

Ensure that you notice a chime sound before releasing the button. After this troubleshooting action, the fridge should go back to normal.

If you clear the coils or deactivate the demo, and the temperature still displays incorrect, reset the system.

You can perform the reset by holding down the power freeze and power control knobs together for eleven seconds.

Alternatively, push the energy-saving and lighting knobs at once, also for ten seconds.

The most suitable option depends on your refrigerator model, and it’d be of help if you consult your user manual.

Common Samsung Fridge Temperature Problems

The most common temperature problem you’re likely to experience is temperature fluctuation which can cause your fridge not to cool as it should.

But some factors can cause fluctuating temperatures. One major factor is a lousy entryway seal.

#1. A Bad Entryway Seal

An impaired entryway seal can result in temperature problems like fluctuation. For example, cold air will spill out if your fridge gasket has an opening or a tear.

Likewise, warm air will have the opportunity to enter the fridge, prompting the system to struggle to keep cool.

The case is similar when it comes to opening the fridge door constantly. When you constantly open the fridge entryway, cold air will escape, and warm air will find its way inside.

In such situations, the fridge will struggle to keep calm, and its temperature will fluctuate

To prevent warm air from intruding, avoid opening the fridge constantly. Likewise, ensure that the doorway seal is in good condition.

If, in any case, you see that there is a need for replacement, please don’t hesitate. Other causes and their solutions are as follows

CausesSolution
Dirty or clogged compressor coilsFrequently clean the coils to avoid obstructions like dirt.
Clogged ventsExamine and see if there are obstructions; conceding that you find any, eliminate them
An altered thermostat Avoid regulating the thermostat regularly

Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Adjustment

Not all Samsung refrigerators have the means of temperature adjustment, so it keenly depends on the model you’re using.

Nevertheless, you can adjust your Samsung refrigerator temperature by unlocking the panel and pressing the fridge and freezer knobs until you arrive at the desired temperature.

Follow the steps below.

#1. Unlock the Panel

Before adjusting the temperature on your Samsung fridge, you must unlock the panel. It is after you unlock the panel that you can make any adjustments.

To unlock the panel, hold on to the door alarm for about 3-5 seconds. The lock feature on the door alarm is implemented to prevent kids from unconsciously changing the settings.

#2. Press the Fridge\ Freezer Buttons

Next, depending on which compartment you want to adjust, press the fridge or freezer knob.

If it’s the fridge you want to adjust, press the fridge button; each time you press the knob, the temperature will adjust by a degree.

And the same thing applies if you want to adjust the freezer compartment. Press the freezer knob, and as you press it, the temperature will adjust by a degree.

Alternatively, you can utilize the power cool and power freeze functions to accelerate the fridge’s cooling process.

To activate the power freeze on the fridge, hold on to the freezer knob for three seconds; the same applies to activating the power cool. Hold on to the fridge knob for three seconds.

To ensure precision, don’t press and hold the fridge or freezer buttons if you don’t want to activate the power cool or power freeze functions.

#3. Lock the Panel

After adjusting the temperature, it’s good that you lock the panel to ensure that your settings are safe from tampering. So hold on to the alarm knob to lock the panel for some seconds.

One good thing is, even though you forget, the refrigerator system is automated to lock the panel about 30 seconds after you close the door. So you need not worry too much.

The procedures above are straightforward and clear. But if your model uses arrows, touch the arrows to navigate to the compartment you want to adjust( fridge, flex zone, freezer).

Then use the arrows again to adjust the temperature.

What Is the Temperature You Should Set Samsung Refrigerator?

Samsung recommends a temperature of 38⁰F and -2⁰F in the fridge and freezer compartments, respectively. This recommendation is in line with the FDA.

The FDA has instructed that the fridge and freezer compartments maintain a temperature of 40⁰F and 0⁰F, respectively.

FDA suggests that the temperature should be below the instructed values and not above. In a situation where your fridge model uses bars, a 3-bar temperature setting is okay.

Summary

Your Samsung must be set at a cold temperature to keep food fresh. When the temperature is too high, food will spoil more quickly and cause illness.

Therefore, while the temperature calibration of the freezer should be between 35°F and 40°F, the freezer should be between 0⁰F and -2⁰F.
